Drag Racing Leagues
Heads-up drag racing is a sport that pits two opponents against each other in a race of shear speed down a 1/4 mile track. The rules are simple - the first one to the finish line wins! On the West Coast, there are two leagues that sponsor National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) sanctioned events. Click on the logo for each league to visit their website.
Pacific Street Car Association (PSCA)
The PSCA sponsors six classes of heads-up racing including the Mickey Thompson Tires Wild Street radial tire class. Wild Street is open to any and all types of vehicles from 60's muscle cars & Pick-ups to late model Mustangs and Camaros. This class is limited mainly by a small drag radial tire (275x60R15). Frame rails both front and rear must retain stock configuration, ladder bars are allowed but with a slight weight penalty. Just about any single power adder is allowed, including the use of nitrous oxide systems, centrifugal or roots superchargers, and single & twin turbocharger combinations. This class defiantly lives up to it's name - WILD!!!!!
West Coast Hot Rod Association (WCHRA)
The WCHRA sponsors six classes of heads-up racing including the Drag Radial class. They are a racing organization developed after many months of research/communication with racers all over the Western U.S. The WCHRA are dedicated to providing a professional atmosphere geared towards benefiting the most important factor of success, "The Racer". The WCHRA ensures safe racetrack facilities, safety driven revised class rules and the highest payouts in the West! It is their goal to seek out the best media sources (T.V., Magazines, Internet, etc...) to get the coverage and publicity for their racers.
